Beauty is only skin deep, but radiant skin can help you leave a wonderful first impression. Lora Condon, The Beauty Buster herself, recently answered our questions on beauty, the importance of a skin care routine, and must-have beauty products. She also spoke to us about what the “right to be beautiful” means to her.
What led you to become The Beauty Buster?
For years, people have been asking me questions about my opinions about the best products and services, and to bust out the most common beauty myths. I finally decided to dedicate a part of my esthetic career to being The Beauty Buster, a beauty consumer advocate. It has really resonated with the public because people are tired of spending their money on products or services that don’t work and don’t deliver the promised results.
I notice that your website states that you mention the “right to be beautiful.” What does that mean to you?
I believe consumers are often lied to, deceived and misled by cosmetic companies and salespeople that are under enormous pressure to meet sales goals. Consumers have a right to products and services that will give them realistic and achievable beauty goals – not the incredible lies they’re sold.
Please tell us more about what The Beauty Buster website is all about.
The website and Facebook page are places to get honest information about the latest beauty products and services. It also describes the services I perform, the organic product line I developed and where my next appearance will be.
What’s a skin care secret that you wish more people knew?
I wish more people read the ingredients instead of believing whatever they’re told by hungry salespeople, fancy packaging, or infomercials.
How important do you think it is for people to have a regular skin care routine?
It is imperative for long-term skin health. Consistent use of sunscreen is my number one must-have item.
What’s one skin myth that you wish you could permanently debunk?
Only one? Pores don’t open and close, like gills on the face. They can be temporarily and minimally made smaller or larger, but usually there is no dramatic change from any creams, masks or scrubs. Another big myth is that Americans think that squeaky clean skin is clean skin. It’s actually dehydrated and open to more bacterial invasion, fine lines and inflammation.
What are your own must-have beauty products?
I always use meadowfoam and rose oil-based Secret Weapon Serum from Beauty Buster Skin Care. It’s one of the most anti-aging and hydrating products on the market today. I use it all over my face, eyes, lips, neck and chest. The excess I just massage into my cuticles.
How do you think you achieved your success with The Beauty Buster?
I achieved success by speaking the truth. People get so used to being lied to that when you speak the truth, they don’t believe you! The Beauty Buster is known for being brutally honest and well educated on the latest beauty trends.
