License Renewal in West Virginia
License renewal is governed by the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. Licenses are renewed annually with the previous year’s license expiring on December 31 and the newly renewed license becoming active in January. This places the deadline for renewal on December 31. It is easy to sign up for an online cosmetology class. You will be able to choose from two courses, each of which satisfies the continuing education requirement. Either course costs $29.00. All you need to do is click on the button labeled “start course.” The course will begin, but if you need to stop, you can halt the slides, and restart when you are free to do so. After pushing the resume course button, you will be back at the exact spot where you interrupted the slides.
In order to complete the course requirement, you must read through each slide. When the last slide is finished, you will receive notification that the course has been completed. You do not need to take an exam to satisfy the online cosmetology classes.
Paying for the Course
The cost of taking the course is not expected to be paid until after you’ve finished. Just click on the buy now button to pay. Once your payment is made, you will be emailed a certificate of completion the same day, providing the course is completed before 2:00 in the afternoon Central Time. If you finished after 2:00 p.m., the certificate will be sent the following day, excluding the weekend. If you finish on the weekend, you will receive your certificate on Monday. If you would rather that the certificate is sent to you in the mail or by fax, we would be happy to comply. Hold on to this formal certificate in the event you are asked to produce it.
Reporting to the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists
Once you have completed the course, we also send a report to the board. This report alerts the board to your continuing education results.
